About Us
Art of Politics is the brainchild of Leslie Mestman and Summer Lewis, two women located in Portland, Oregon, who have over ten years in marketing experience and twenty years in political and social issues. They've spent the last several years working together in energy conservation. Leslie and Summer created the political poster design competition as a way to engage people in politics, based on what matters most to them.

According to Leslie, she can't remember a time in her life when she wasn't interested in politics. After receiving her MA in Political Science, she briefly taught political science before moving on to work in social services. Her passion for politics combined with her love of rock concert posters fueled the idea for Art of Politics "I think poster art is a really powerful medium that is accessible to everyone - both to create and to view. We want to give people an opportunity to express what is on their mind in a way that doesn't require a fine arts degree. Mostly, we just want people to wake up and speak out!"

"What I like about Art of Politics is that it brings our attention back to the issues that people are most passionate about.
It feels like the country has become apathetic and skeptical toward politicians and their agendas.
This poster design competition allows people to clearly display the issues that matter most to them."
Her ultimate desire is for Art of Politics to send a message to the politicians running for office and to inspire a new generation to get involved in politics, social and environmental issues.
